BWY Foundation Course Level 1

This course aims to widen practical experience and to encourage personal development for serious students who do not necessarily wish to prepare for teacher training.  To provide a basic grounding for those who Do wish to prepare for teacher training.

The course length is 60hours, which will run 1 sunday a month.

Students who wish to register for this course need minimum of two year class attendance with a suitable qualified and experienced yoga teacher.
Students enrolling on the course will be required to take up BWY membership and pay the course registration Fee.
BWY certificat of attendance will be awarede to students who achieve 80% attendance or above.

Students will practise a range of yoga asanas from the eight groups.
Practise a range of basic breathing techniques.
Practise a variety of Pranayama techniques using nostril or glottis/throat control with or without ratios.
Practise relaxation using the techniques stated in the syllabus.
Use the concentration/meditation techniques stated in the syllabus.
Chant the mantra stated in the syllabus in a group led by the course tutor.
Plan simple personal asana practices to meet own needs based on sound priciples of prepartion , body usage, balanced content, using modifcations and counter poses as appropriate.
Define commonly used sanskrit terms relation to yoga practises on the syllabus.
Define the names of the yoga paths
Define the 8 Limbs of Yoga
Observe and record in diary .
