Leslie Kaminoff.     Author of YOGA Anatomy

Tuesday September 10th
Yoga Anatomy of Body, Mind and Breath
Yoga can be described as integration of body, mind and breath.  Leslie's teachers, T.K.V Desikachar, stated that without the breath, there is no yoga.  Join Leslie Kaminoff, for a three hour introduction to the basics of the anatomy, physiology and neurology of yoga practice.  Lecture, audio-visual material, led practice and interactive inquiry, this can be taken as a standalone session or as part of the full workshop.  Alllevels of experience (including beginners) are welcome.

Wednesday September 11th
Non-Linear Asana Flow, Escaping the Tyranny of the Rectangle
Learning the simple geometries of classic asana is a great starting point for the physical aspect of yoga practice,  just as learning scales on a piano is a necessary foundation to playing music.  This isa workshop that tunes into the music of the body, by honouring the spirals, fluids and asymmetries inherent in our organic forms.   We will practice in a way that seeks more balance in or systems by honouring the complementary forces of order and chaos, inquiry and technique, form and function.

Arm Supports Reimagined: Open Chains and Spirals
In the grand scheme of sequencing the skill acquisition of asana practice, Leslie considers arm - supported asanas to be intermediate level skills.  He will explain the anatomical basis of this view, and propose a raid ally different method of entering into these challenging poses by working with the spiralling lines of myofascal support in the arms while preparing the upper extremities to support our body weight through ope kinetic chain movements.

NOTE; A good portion of Leslie's teaching is lecture/demo format.  Students who arrive expecting to do continuous practice may be disappointed.  Hence my reasoning for aiming for those who have his book.
